Today’s Task
Today’s Task – February 23, 2012
Seven miles on Sunday…check! Seven on Monday…check! Eight miles on Tuesday…check. Tired and sore on Wednesday, a vivid reminder that this 59 year old body isn’t what it used to be…check! Yet, I still managed three miles and a rotation of abs, chest and triceps. Sometimes, the body just needs to come to rest; after all, you can’t clearly see your reflection in running water.
Apparently exhausted, when I went to bed I quickly fell into a deep sleep. I dreamt I was recruited to return to a former school. The next day, there was a knock on my door and a young lady introduced herself as my new drum major. She said the band was very excited I was returning and they wanted to show me what they were doing. When we arrived at the practice field, every parent of every student was there. Each section of the band had its own instructor and was outfitted with the very best instruments in pristine condition. As each group performed, it was apparent every member of the band was completely and totally committed to the task at hand. I was sure I had died and was now in band director heaven. When I awoke this morning, sadly realizing that I had been dreaming, it struck me that if it took being in a state of exhaustion to attain such a program…I am all in!!! I am willing to do whatever it takes to make that happen. Are you?
Today, no every day, I encourage you to consider what it would take for you to attain your dreams. The road to success is not a secret. It requires doing fundamental things on an ongoing basis. Yes, you will sometimes become tired and will need time to rest and reflect. But remember, no one ever completed a marathon by standing still. Time to go; I have a few more miles to run!
Have a great day!

That had to be some of the best dreaming moments you’d ever spent!
What a nice possibility to work toward!
